Mindfulness and Stress

Grounded in Buddhist sati while adapted as general education, not clinical treatment.

Safety boundary

This educational practice does not diagnose, treat or guarantee an outcome. Stop when needed and seek qualified support where appropriate.

Origin and scope

Grounded in Buddhist sati while adapted as general education, not clinical treatment.

Posture and setup

Choose a physically sustainable position, keep choice available and begin with a modest duration.

  1. Step 1

Orient by naming five visible objects in the room.

  2. Step 2

Feel contact at the feet, seat or hands.

  3. Step 3

Let the breath remain natural rather than demanding calm.

  4. Step 4

Name one stressor and separate facts from predictions.

  5. Step 5

Choose one bounded action, boundary or person to contact.

Obstacles and safety

If inward attention increases distress, shift outward, move, or stop. External causes of stress need practical responses.

Next practice

Repeat briefly, note what actually occurred, and seek an appropriately qualified teacher when questions exceed this introduction.
