BODHISATTVAS
बोधिसत्त्व — Awakening Beings
In Mahāyāna Buddhism, a Bodhisattva is one who has vowed to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings — postponing their own final liberation out of boundless compassion. These luminous figures embody the highest qualities of wisdom, compassion, power, and devotion.
The Bodhisattva Vow
"Sentient beings are numberless — I vow to save them all.
Desires are inexhaustible — I vow to end them all.
The Dharma gates are boundless — I vow to enter them all.
The Buddha Way is supreme — I vow to attain it."
— The Four Great Vows (Shiguseigan)

— The Four Great Vows (Shiguseigan)
"As long as space endures, as long as sentient beings remain, until then may I too remain — to dispel the miseries of the world."
